Marion County, FL
Home MenuWho is the HFA?
The Housing Finance Authority of Marion County was formed on June 3, 1980 to unite both public and private entities to serve all areas within the county, as authorized by Chapter 159 Part IV of Florida Statutes. Our main goal as the HFA is to help families and individuals in Marion County by helping with affordable housing options.
Our mission is to increase the availability of essential housing in Marion County. We can also provide bond funding for the development of affordable multi-family housing for residents who desire rental opportunities.
The HFA board is composed of five members appointed by the board of county commissioners. We work very closely with both the city of Ocala and Marion County to serve low-moderate income rental households and collaborate with multifamily developers to create or preserve affordable units for eligible renters in Marion County.
Below is a list of goals we have accomplished over the last several years:
- We own and manage 43 affordable rental units
- We provide education on basic skills and financial literacy to HFA tenants.
- In 2024, the HFA established the Central Florida Community Land Trust for vacant land and rental units within Marion County to ensure rental units will stay affordable for 99+ years.
- We provide education to the public related to workforce housing
- We created the workforce housing study with Florida housing.
- We rent to residents with income between 50 - 120% AMI and all tenants are income certified by HFA property manager.
Our focus is to increase the availability of essential and affordable housing in Marion County.
