The Housing Finance Authority of Marion County was established in 1980 by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners with the purpose of increasing the availability of essential housing within Marion County. The Housing Finance Authority’s fiscal year runs from Oct. 1-Sept. 30.
HFA, a separate public body corporate and politic located in Ocala, Florida and authorized by Chapter 159, Part IV, Florida Statutes, has a mission to increase the availability of essential housing by sourcing and growing essential housing opportunities within Marion County.
The Marion County Community Services department administers affordable housing and development grants received from state and federal agencies. Through these grants, Marion County provides homeownership services including down payment and closing cost assistance to income eligible households. Homeowner rehabilitation programs are also available to assist low-income homeowners with repairs to address health and safety issues, code deficiencies, and emergency repairs.
HFA and Marion County Community Services acknowledge the value of assisting low and moderate income citizens with maintaining affordable housing, as well as facilitating avenues of upward mobility through financial mentoring and self-enhancement opportunities.
